AfroVisioN CEO

1- How did the idea comes to you to laucnh AfroVisioN ?

While i was teaching at trustech institute of technology www.trustech.org I wanted to get a way to introduce modern web solutions to cameroonians that will also help to increase internet usage to the cameroon people so I founded AfroVisioN more info can be seen on our site for this question.

2- Can you present yourself in few words ?

I am mambe churchill Nanje a 22 year old Cameroon Macromedia certified web developer with skills software / web development. I love Computing and programming and I am single. I have been working on the computer professionally for 4 years now. and more information on this can be seen from my hosted portfolio at http://www.webyfolio.com/mambe_nanje_churchill

3- How many people are working with you? What is the mean age of the people working in your company?

We are a team of 10 guys but about 6 guys are working fulltime the rest are either out of the country or busy with school. the mean age is my age 21yrs

People at AfroVisioN

4- Who are your principal clients till now? How do you manage to reach them in the past? Our principal clients are IMFA www.imfagroup.org health care International Buea www.healthcareintl.org vianello hotel Kumba www.vianellohote.com . We got connected to them via other people who had been seeing our works and were pleased with the stuffs we had done for the social media of cameroon like www.ubstudents.com

5- People sometimes think they should be in Douala or Yaounde to succeed, but you are all based in Buea. Is there any problem with working in Buea and having clients elsewhere? How do you managed that?

Well its true that you have to be in Douala or Yaounde to Succeed but I dont find it necessary because Buea is having the university with rich source of human resource and also an available media to harvest with less expenditure. Working from buea is posing us alot of problems to break into the whole Country but we have studied the cameroon internet culture enough and to break through wont be a problem in the next 1 year or so. Our main issue is we dont get enough coporate networking here in Buea but we work harder to get international contacts and outsourcing jobs from our partner in India.

6- What do you think of the youth entrepreneurship in Cameroon?

Entrepreneurship in Cameroon is not good enough, most guys just follow the Entrepreneurship in Cameroon on the books and on seminars but they dont practise it. One reason is because of the government and the lack of funding and the other reason is because they are not creative enough and they prefer working for others alongside they are scared of risk but prefer to follow others.

7- What is your main future goal? To earn more money? To be a famous company?

We plan to be a famous company and the money will come. We work hard everyday just to sustain our company and our projects and we see increase in efficiency and skills everyday. Nowadays we are getting more contacts but our main goal is making a famous company that can employ atleast 1000 cameroonians in the next five years.

8- Some ending words?

Thanks for the interview and I would like to get to know you better in the future, but one thing i didn’t mention is the fact that in the past 2 years of our operation, we have been more concerned with creating free online social solutions like what you are doing on Kerawa, so that we can get a rich portfolio. And nowadays we are shifting 50% of our talent now to getting paid clients and not more community free clients.

It’s true that it’s not only by leaving in Duala or yaounde that you can improve the cameroonian IT culture. ADCOME ( http://www.adcome.net )has its headquarters in buea too.
The most important is your commitment, hardworking. I aknowledge that the internet connection is still an issue in this area (even our big cities are not well provided after all) but it’s a work in progress. Keep it up.

That’s laudable. We need such enterprising young Cameroonians.
